The Knowledge Management Characterization Framework (KMCF)

The Knowledge Management Characterization Framework (KMCF) is the work of Brian (Bo) Newman and Kurt Conrad. First published in January of 1999, the foundational paper provides a framework for characterizing the various tools (methods, practices and technologies) available to knowledge management practitioners. In that paper the authors provide a high-level overview of a number of key terms and concepts, describe the framework, provides examples of how to use it, and explore a variety of potential application areas.

A tutorial is available covering the KMCF and can be presented by the authors or selected others upon request. Those interested in attending the next scheduled tutorial, or who would like to arrange for an on-site presentation are encouraged to contact the KMForum Director of Publications at TheoryPapers@km-forum.org
